Neptune Privacy Policy

What we collect

Account info (name, email, profile photo if provided) you give us when you sign up. Financial data (account names, balances, transactions, categories, merchants) pulled via Plaid from institutions you explicitly connect. Subscription / purchase data (your active plan, renewal date, purchase history) when you subscribe. Usage telemetry and diagnostics (page views, button taps, error stack traces, performance metrics) so we can improve the product and fix bugs. Identifiers (a user ID we generate, plus identifiers from your authentication provider) used to keep your data tied to your account.

How we use it

To run the Service: show your accounts, categorize transactions, generate budget insights, run AI-assisted coaching and summaries, send transactional emails, process subscription billing, and detect abuse. We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for cross-context advertising.

Who we share with

We rely on a small number of vetted providers to operate the Service. Each receives only what's necessary to perform its function, under contractual confidentiality. Plaid — securely syncs bank data from institutions you connect. Convex — our database and backend infrastructure. Clerk — authentication and account session management. Stripe — processes web subscription payments. Apple App Store — processes iOS in-app subscription purchases; governed by Apple's privacy practices. RevenueCat — manages and reconciles subscription state across web and iOS. Anthropic — provides the AI model that powers budget insights and coaching; transaction summaries and budget metadata are sent for processing. Anthropic does not train models on your data. We do not share your data with advertisers or data brokers.

Security

Data in transit is encrypted with TLS. Data at rest is encrypted by our database provider. We never store your bank login credentials — authentication happens directly between you and your bank, mediated by Plaid.

Your choices

You can disconnect any bank from the Accounts page. You can request full deletion of your account and data at neptunebudget.com/delete-account. We honor deletion requests within 24–48 hours.

Data retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. After deletion, we remove your records from production systems within 48 hours and from backups within 30 days.

Children's privacy

Neptune Budget is not directed to children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child, contact us at privacy@neptunebudget.com.
